It's Coming back... Ever so slowly

This is where I've been 5 to 6 nights, a week. It's also where I will be 5 to 6 nights a week until the end of October.
Both of my babies are playing soccer this year. It's the first time for both of them. They both really like it, although Christian prefers baseball. I hope they play soccer again next year. The soccer games are much more entertaining than their softball/t-ball ones ever were! Of course, this means it's a little harder for me to knit at the games.
This is Christian's team, he's the one in red with the soccer ball.
And here's Emily, the one in purple, kicking the ball.
My Sock kit finally came this week. I am very happy with the yarn and pattern. She sent me the exact yarn I have been wanting, hand dyed by Scout! The color is called Puesta del Sol. In my ksks questionaire I mentioned not being able to find the perfect orange/yellow yarn so when Scout first blogged about this yarn and said it was a cutom dye job for a sock kit I couldn't help but wonder if it was for my kit. It was so hard to resist ordering it but I had to hold out, just in case. My pal never mentioned if it was in fact dyed for me, but what are the chances that someone else out there requested the same exact colors as I did? I could be wrong though... Doesn't matter cuz I got my freaking yarn and it ROCKS!
The pattern is Here There Be Dragons socks I have been wanting to try this pattern...Another good choice for my kit. In fact, I started my upscaled socks and have finished two of the cuff repeats so far.
I was so thrilled with the yarn and pattern that I had to do two things. First, I bought some more yarn (Yes, I'm buying yarn again?!?!) to make the Hubby his own pair of downscaled dragon socks. the green one is his. It's Welsh Green Dragon from Sunshine yarns. It's shades of green and grey (yes, it looks blue in the picture). And then I had Scout do a custom dye job for me. I'm a huge Ohio State University fan, ever since we lived there four years ago. Who wouldn't love a pair of OSU socks? Scarlett and gray, I mean c'mon, what a great combination. So I asked, and I received. I e-mailed Scout about it on Sept. 24 and I received it today, Sept. 29. That's a damn fast turn around for a custom dye job. Red is a hard color to photograph, but I assure you, in person, it is SO definately the perfect shade of scarlett. . If you need a custom dye job, go see Scout. You won't regret it.
Now you know, here in Virginia, the days are still pretty warm. But when the sun goes down, man does it get chilly out there. Which means cold hands. I haven't been able to find my favorite pair of fingerless gloves (I tore the house apart searching for them too. So sad... ) so I had to make a new pair. I use one skein of Noro Kureyon that I had laying around. I love them. They were knit on size 5 needles, so they're really snug and warm. I knit them in one day too... Gotta love that instant gratification. :)
Finally, I have to share something else I've been working on. My very own Stitchettes! Aren't they sooo cute?! I just love the old fashioned simplicity of these dolls. They are hand embroidered on cotton muslin. I still have to sew them shut and then they'll be complete.
Emily loves them... can you tell?
To say life around here has been hectic would be an understatement. We are still having internet troubles and have another technician scheduled to come out October 12. Yes, that long. Which is why Adelphia supposedly is giving us a free month. You bet your ass I'll be checking my statement. Between soccer, and school, and oh yeah.... Two kids getting strep throat, one right after the other, I haven't had much time to breathe. I've been having some minor medical issues lately as well. We don't think it's anything serious. Of course, I have to wait until October 18th to see the Dr. and find out what's going on. (Did I mention I haven't even started paying my other hospital bills?? Shit shit shit!) I've been able to do a little sewing, which I'll show you later. And I started my quilt. It's coming along, slowly.
I'm going to a Pearl Party with my Mom tonight. A pearl party is run sort of like a tupperware party. Only the lady brings oysters filled with pearls. You buy the oyster, get the pearl, and then pay to have it mounted into jewelry. I don't have any extra money for it...But a house full of women and wine sounds good to me right now.
If you got this far...Thanks. I feel like talking my head off today and there's nobody for me to talk to. So I blog. But there's so much I wanted to say, I can't keep up with my brain. the post is probably all over the place but I don't care. At least it's a decent post with pictures :)
